Her Heart Cries Fowl | Feels Like Home

“Let us toast to animal pleasures, to escapism, to rain on the roof and instant coffee, to unemployment insurance and library cards, to absinthe and good-hearted landlords, to music and warm bodies and contraceptives… and to the “good life”, whatever it is and wherever it happens to be.”

The internet is a glorious thing. I’ve met beautiful women, and hilarious men, and been to parties and watched babies grow and travelled around the world.. all from conversations I started online. It’s a funny thing for those that don’t understand it. The first time I met my friend Emma was at her wedding, after her vows, after 5 years of talking online.
And with Lina, it started with some serious insta-stalking.
We started chatting, I figured out when she’d be in town, (honest I didn’t GPS her), and we hung out at my place. Bridge and I tried to get her drunk, but she was wiser than us. Lucky for us she declined our offers of cheap rosé and instead just melded into the background of our standard Saturday afternoon.
Boys in the yard, drinks on the balcony. Such is life.
Sometimes you need another set of eyes to make you realise that all that stuff you have collected, horded and jammed into a small beach shack over the past 8 years is just exactly how you wanted it – feeling like home.
Come over to our house, the door’s always open.
